Families delight in the Mid-Hudson Children's Museum, where kids can take an imaginary journey through the Revolutionary War era, explore working models of DaVinci's 16th Century inventions, come eye-to-eye socket with the fully re-constructed skeleton of a twelve-foot tall mastodon that lived during the Ice Age, and much more, all in a gorgeous setting on the banks of the Hudson.

Visit the State University of New York at New Paltz for exciting live music, theater and dance performances or to check out the world class permanent collection and groundbreaking exhibitions at the Samuel Dorsky Museum of Art. In July and August, SUNY New Paltz hosts PianoSummer, an international summer institute and festival dedicated solely to piano music, culminating in the Jacob Flier Piano Competition

For the historic perspective, don't miss Historic Huguenot Street, a National Historic Landmark District featuring seven unique stone houses dating to the early 1700s, a burial ground and a reconstructed 1717 stone church, all in their original setting.

Catch a show at Shadowland Theatre, the Hudson Valley's premier non-profit, professional theater, producing a mixture of classic, contemporary and new plays and musicals, including thought provoking socially relevant work with vision. Or check out Mohonk Mountain Stage Company, whose Readers Theater Group has given over 400 performances of prose, poetry and plays--including many Hudson Valley premiers--at venues throughout the region.
