E-Waste Recycling Event: Individuals
400 Stockade Drive, Kingston
A special collection event for electronic waste, to benefit Sustainable Hudson Valley with a portion of the affordable collection fees. Both the business and household collection events will accept used monitors, printers, keyboards, VCRs, batteries, cell phones, terminals, cables, fax machines, radios, modems, CRTs, telephones, TVs, CPUs, copiers, scanners, DVD players, typewriters, and stereo equipment. A fee of $10 per carload covers costs. No pre-registration is needed.

Mohonk Preserve Singles and Sociables Snowshoe (hike if no snow)
Overlook Mountain
Call hike leader for time. Singles and Sociables outings welcome all adult hikers, single and non-single, aged 18 and above. No reservations required. Call the hike leader for the meeting place and fee. This is a moderate, 6-mile snowshoe, led by Tonda Highley (255-9933). New hikers are strongly encouraged to contact the leader prior to the hike for information on hike levels, what to bring, and other information. Hike leaders determine whether or not to allow pets.

Mid-Hudson Children's Museum Chinese Lantern Festival
75 N. Water Street, Poughkeepsie
The Lantern Festival marks the end of Chinese New Year festivities. This Festival will feature several traditional elements, including dance, crafts, and holiday snacks. Create paper lanterns and dragon puppets and engage in hands-on learning about a culture different from your own! The event is free to the public. The Dutchess County Arts Council Folk Arts Program and the Mid-Hudson Children's Museum have collaborated with members of the Asian American Youth Committed to Excellence, the Mid-Hudson Chinese Language Center and the Mid-Hudson Xua-Xia Chinese School to present this program. Trumpeter/composer Ben Neill and video artist Bill Jones present Night Science, a set of future dub jazz and interactive video for Neill’s newly created ‘mutantrumpet.’ Dubstep beats and basslines meet the otherworldly sonic explorations of Neill’s newly redesigned electro/acoustic instrument.
