Each year the Regional Chamber of Commerce Foundation at New Paltz awards scholarships recognizing individuals who have made a difference in their community, school, or workplace. These scholarship winners are graduating high school seniors, students currently pursuing a post-secondary degree or accreditation, and adult learners. They are Eagle Scouts, firefighters, decorated athletes, Rotarians, EMTs, and hospital volunteers, developing careers in health care, law, mathematics, chemical engineering, business administration, and education. The financial support provided by the Foundation scholarships has helped these individuals apply their passion and drive to a course of study that not only helps them accomplish their professional goals, but promotes a dynamic local quality of life in our region. "I have many academic and personal goals but one of my main goals is to someday start my own business developing and producing alternative fuels, chemicals, and renewable energy technologies...It is my hope that one day I can give back to the community I grew up in and to the Chamber of Commerce [Foundation]

The need for educational scholarship funds is rapidly growing. According to the National Center for Education Studies, adult and nontraditional learners are becoming the norm, with growth expected to outpace the typical college segement.
