TOURIST INFORMATION
The New Paltz Regional Chamber of Commerce has been nurturing community in our region for more than a century. Far from solely a business organization, the Chamber of Commerce also maintains a Visitor’s Center for tourists, offers workshops and seminars, and participates in fundraising for local charities.
New Paltz Regional Chamber of Commerce Visitor’s Center
New Paltz Regional Chamber of Commerce is the only Chamber in the Hudson Valley with a regional Visitor’s Center. Located at 124 Main Street in New Paltz, the Visitor’s Center is stocked with brochures and information about area attractions, as well as information about Chamber member restaurants, lodgings and other businesses.
The Center is open year-round Monday through Friday from 9 a.m.-5 p.m.; from May through October, the Center is also open on Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Clean Sweep
The Chamber organizes this annual event to kick off spring and give our community a fresh start. Business owners, residents, local politicians, community organizations, schools and fraternities all join in early in the morning, share a delicious breakfast and, armed with rubber gloves, bags and special tee-shirts, go out into the streets and parks and sweep the town clean. In 2007, Clean Sweep will be on Saturday, April 28.

New Paltz Regatta
This event takes place on the Wallkill River, which flows through downtown New Paltz. People from all over the Hudson Valley create wild and wacky seaworthy crafts and race (showing them off in a parade first). There are also kayak and canoe races—and lots and lots of fun.
Taste of New Paltz
Every fall, the New Paltz Regional Chamber of Commerce sponsors the popular Taste of New Paltz. It is a wholesome, old-fashioned day in the country, with the region’s best restaurants offering taste-size portions of their specialties, and the area’s farm markets, wineries and breweries complementing the food with harvest-fresh produce and delightful local vintages and brews.
Although food is the focus of the event, other appealing aspects of our region are also highlighted: Artistic Taste features local artists exhibiting paintings, photographs and sketches for sale; the Business Expo provides valuable information about local businesses and services and frequently has free giveaways; the Fitness and Recreation Expo highlights fun ways to keep fit or relax; The Craft Expo features handcrafted items for sale from area artisans, including jewelry, ceramics, wood and hand-made soaps; and The Country Store offers yummy jams, jellies, salsas, homemade marshmallows, and other comestibles to purchase and enjoy long after “Taste” is over. The event also includes a Kid’s Expo, with children’s activities, and live music throughout the day. Not to be missed—September 16, 2007.
For current dates of all events, check the New Paltz Regional Chamber of Commerce’s calendar of annual events or monthly schedule of events.

The local school districts benefit from the close proximity to so many fine colleges, as well as from the historical, educational and environmental programs offered in conjunction with area historical societies and the Mohonk Preserve. The Chamber also offers workshops and seminars to meet the needs of area businesspeople.
Community
Our world-renowned scenery, top-notch restaurants and unique shopping are not just for tourists! Our residents enjoy the many attractions of this area, finding it a cozy and safe environment to raise their family. Excellent public schools, plenty of clubs and organizations to join for adults and children and plenty of energizing outdoor activities encourage both health and community spirit.
Tourism
Stay overnight at a charming bed and breakfast, hotel or motel, or rough it at a scenic campsite. Rock climbing and scrambling, hiking, cross-country skiing, bicycling and panoramic views are all at your fingertips in the “Gunks,” with its unusual geology and endless trails. Historic stone houses in downtown New Paltz (Historic Huguenot Street) are open for tours May through October. Our wineries and farm markets offer the bounty of our region throughout the year. And you can enjoy theatrical productions, concerts, art shows and lectures on the State University of New York campus, at the Samuel Dorsky Museum of Art, and at other area venues like Unison Arts & Learning Center.
